Survey Class Marine provides the extensive, accredited surveys for the following services:
PRE PURCHASE
Buying a used vessel? Despite its age or construction method, vessels should always be surveyed for piece of mind and for investment worth. Test all equipment and accessories, inspect construction integrity and run all machinery under load. Seek professional advice accordingly.
INSURANCE RISK
Most insurance companies need to know if the vessel they are insuring is safe, seaworthy, a fire risk, whether the passengers are safe, the fuel system compliant, and if the safety equipment is up to standards.
VALUATIONS
Finance companies need to have an unbiased and independant opinion of what a vessel of a particular construction type, age (ect) is worth at that time.
FINANCE
If you are borrowing money to finance or refinance against your vessel, a professional inspection and valuation can assist your endeavour.
LOSS ASSESSING
If your vessel is damaged or a total loss, a marine survey can assist in compiling a detailed report on what is required for salvage or repair costs.
BUILD & REPAIR INSPECTIONS
If you are having a vessel built, be it a new production, or a one-off, employ periodic, unbiased, professional inspections to ensure professionalism in manufacture. This would typically include random visits and reports on build progress, materials used, fibreglass and resin batch number, laminating and weld schedules, factory conditions and temperatures.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR: Survey Class Marine, its parent company, and all accreditted professionals that assist our endeavours, abide by several codes of practice applicable to their particular trades. This ensures your satisfaction as to their determination and commitment to the marine industry. Trust and professionalism are paramount.

COMMERCIAL VESSELS & CLIENTS
Are you building a commercial vessel? Or are you having a commercial vessel built?
Whether it's being built locally or internationally, you will require a qualified commercial survey to inspect this vessel during construction (unless it is being built by an accredited builder to an Australian Government department). Survey Class Marine can quote (obligation free) on your next project to include design, electrical, fire, engineering, survey and safety.
Do you intend to purchase an existing commercial vessel? Have it professionally surveyed to ensure it complies to ever-changing regulations.
Do you own and/or operate commercial vessels? Have these inspected annually to ensure compliance and safety for your client and avoid random monitoring and written direction, which can put your vessel out of work until it is re-surveyed and repaired. This can be costly if not attended to.
Do you know the USL (uniform shipping law) or NSCV (national standard commercial vessels)? If not, you need to contact Survey Class Marine.

Company
Complete Boating Service was established on the Gold Coast in 1988. At that time the company was repairing and refurbishing all manner of marine vessels from a workshop at Mariner's Cove. New boats were being built from a factory in Labrador employing up to 10 qualified professionals, with the principal of the business, Peter Kidd, always on hand.
Prior to 1988, the experience was gained from an apprenticeship as a boat builder in Sydney. From the completion of that apprenticeship in 1971, more experience was gained by working continually within the waterfront marine industry always employing qualified professionals to ensure competent completion of all work.
1975 saw the beginning of the survey business while continuing to build and repair vessels. This was initially brought about by clients requesting professional advice on all manner of repairs and building requirements. The company did diversify in the late 1980's to retail and repairing vessels from a boatyard away from the waterfront. This allowed further experience in retails sales, valuations and the finance industry.
The company is now valued by many insurance companies. These include .....
- Club Marine
- Marine Sure
- RACQ
- NRMA
- Suncorp
..... and many others. These companies rely on professional opinions. This means that we do not (on most occasions) condemn your purchase or investment. We do advise on improvements that make your investment a worthwhile insurance risk and to ensure safety for your passengers.
Finance companies also require a professional opinion as to your vessels market value, fire sale value and safety. These include CBA, FIA, AGC, Natwest . Experience in retail sales allows your surveyor to understand the boat market. Valued contacts within the industry are always available for advice on ever-changing market trends.
